Your company logo, advert, flyer or business card etc is what your potential clients see first. When your design is appealing, attractive and easy to understand, it helps to convey a message to the viewer and if it’s compelling enough, it’s more likely to create a positive response and generate business for you.
You shouldn’t consider that using a professional graphic designer as an expense but rather as an investment for your business. When a potential client looks for a business, it will be your image that they first connect with. So you need to ensure that the first impression you give them is the right one.
Regular advertising with good quality adverts and eye catching marketing materials will attract new business and also create brand awareness. Effective advertising and a professional company image could increase your sales …and it doesn’t need to cost a lot to do it. Also in today’s technology and worldwide internet use, online brochures etc can be viewed easily on computers, ipads and mobile phones giving you the exposure that will contribute to the success of your company.
Where is Graphic Design Used? …An easier question to answer would be, ‘Where is graphic design NOT used?’ Since people tend to be visually oriented, graphic design is an important component of almost everything that comes into contact with the customer. Whether you’re designing your logo, a web site, or a brochure etc, it’s important to find a way to make it visually appealing to the viewer.
Regardless of the message you are trying to convey, good graphic design will help you communicate it. Without good graphic design, your marketing materials may be functional, but not appealing which in turn will not be read or may create a negative impression of your company.
Why employ a full time graphic designer when you can hire one on a monthly retainer to suit your marketing budget.
Paul Scotton Design can guarantee a lower hourly rate if your company sets up a contract with us for as many hours a month you require at a set fee.
It’s a great solution for any company to keep up to date with fresh marketing materials and adverts etc without overspending the marketing budget.
Remember, ‘Graphic Design’ is not an expense …it is an investment in your company.
When meeting or presenting yourself to someone for the first time you like to dress-to-impress to give a good impression.
It is the same for your business …it is seen by many people for the first time every day, so needs to leave a lasting impression …first impressions count and can go along way for future business to be passed you way.
Whether it be your logo, business card, advert or brochures etc, it needs to be professional and, most importantly, tell your potential clients what services you provide. Usually it is these marketing materials that are seen before they meet you in person.
There’s many businesses that do not need or can afford a full time graphic designer, but would still like to produce professional marketing materials each month.
Often graphic designers will have projects booked weeks in advance and there is little time to work on projects on an as-needed basis, so one off projects can sometimes take a little bit longer to get done. This is where a retainer package makes perfect sense. It allows business owners to be guaranteed that the graphic designer will be dedicated to work on their projects for a certain amount of time each month. It also allows the business owners to budget these costs.
Also a lot of company owners are too busy running their business to think about what they need to market their company. But are more likely to be motivated to do more for their business if they know they are paying a montly fee for design work …which in turn increases business and profits.
As your dedicated designer I would produce any sort of print materials and web graphics etc you require …printing costs are not included in the retainer but I can get 20% discount on most print runs which I pass on to TTA members that I do design work for.
Although web design can be done by me, things like development, content management and entire website builds etc are not included the retainer… but could be negotiated if required with developers I collaborate with.
Having companies on retainers also helps me plan my week as I know how many hours I have dedicated to each company and so I know that I will never miss a deadline.
Another benefit of having me work for you on a retainer is the cost factor. If a client needs a one off design project I charge accordingly based on how much work is involved and how long it would take me. But on a retainer the client need not worry about if they can afford it as the monthly fee never changes …plus, as it is a guaranteed monthly payment, I give a generous discount from what I would usually charge for a one off design.
I am always looking for more retainers as to be able to expand my company and offer many talented designers a chance to work with me and to give a faster service to my clients.
If you feel the overall look of your company needs a facelift of just some fresh design injected into your marketing materials please contact Paul Scotton Design for an informal chat over a coffee.
